Alexandria is the 13th highest-ranked city where women are the most successful, according to a new study.
To find the cities where women are most successful, SmartAsset’s third annual study compared the 200 most-populous U.S. cities across six metrics related to education, earnings, entrepreneurship and housing affordability for women.
Out of the 200 cities in the SmartAsset study, the District, Arlington and Alexandria crack the top 15. All three cities rank in the top 10 for their high median earnings for full-time working women, surpassing $70,000.
Here in Alexandria, more than two-thirds of women have a Bachelor's degree or higher. The median income of women is more than $75,800.
In addition, almost one-third (31.3 percent) of local businesses are owned by women.
The top five cities were Cary, N.C., followed by Arlington, Washington, D.C., Seattle and Minneapolis.
