On the heels of a record-breaking Spring2ACTion day of giving, Alexandria residents were named among the most generous in Virginia.
In a recent study, SmartAsset researched places where residents were donating the most money to charitable causes. The study measured how much people donate as a percentage of their net income and the proportion of people in each county who make charitable donations.
According to the study, Alexandria (City) residents ranked among the most generous in Virginia, coming in fifth. Here are the top five:

3. Fairfax County, VA
4. Goochland County, VA
5. Alexandria city, VA
Residents in Alexandria give an average of 1.65 percent of their income to charity.
