Voters in the City of Alexandria and in southeast Fairfax County leaned left in choosing representatives to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives in the 2018 election.
In addition, voters approved two constitutional amendments, and voters in Fairfax County approved a $182 million public safety bond.
Incumbent Sen. Tim Kaine, a Democrat, won reelection Tuesday over challenger Republican Corey Stewart. With 2,556 precincts of 2,567 (99.57%) reporting as of midnight, here's how Virginia voted in the Senate race:
Corey Stewart: 1,346,862 41.30%
Tim Kaine: 1,849,324 56.70%

Incumbent Congressman Don Beyer (D) also won reelection to the House. Here's the breakdown of Tuesday's vote:
U.S. House of Representatives: Oh, Beyer
With all precincts reporting in the 8th District, which is made up of Alexandria, Arlington County, Falls Church and parts of Fairfax County, the results are:
Thomas S. Oh: 77,382 23.75%
Donald S. Beyer, Jr.: 245,890 75.47%
Write-in candidates received 2,523 votes (less than 1 percent).
Beyer has been in office since 2015. Beyer (yes, he owns car dealerships in the region) was also Lt. Gov. of Virginia from 1990 to 1998. His campaign focused on economic development, an increased minimum wage, improving schools, strengthening gun control laws, expanding family leave and more. Beyer is a longtime Northern Virginian.
According to his campaign website, Oh is a native of Northern Virginia, a military veteran and now serves in the U.S. Army Reserve while working in project management. He is an MBA student at George Mason University. Oh ran on a platform of smarter spending, fewer taxes, protecting the 2nd amendment, increasing parental leave and fair immigration policies.
Statewide, residents voted on (and passed) two proposed constitutional amendments:
Proposed Constitutional Amendment Question 1: Should a county, city, or town be authorized to provide a partial tax exemption for real property that is subject to recurrent flooding, if flooding resiliency improvements have been made on the property?
2550 precincts of 2,567 (99.34%) reporting:
Yes: 2,243,976 70.63%
No: 933,187 29.37%
Proposed Constitutional Amendment Question 2: Shall the real property tax exemption for a primary residence that is currently provided to the surviving spouses of veterans who had a one hundred percent service-connected, permanent, and total disability be amended to allow the surviving spouse to move to a different primary residence and still claim the exemption?
With 2,551 precincts of 2,567 (99.38%) reporting:
Yes: 2,682,651 84.32%
No: 498,708 15.68%
Voters in Fairfax County also voted strongly in favor a $182 million public safety bond. Election results showed support at 69.6 percent with 243 of 244 precincts reporting Tuesday night.
The public safety bond allows Fairfax County officials to borrow money to construct, renovate, enlarge and equip new facilities for police, criminal justice, and fire and rescue.
