Spirit Halloween, which opens retail outlets every fall, has a new location in Alexandria this year.
The store is opening in the Foxchase Shopping Center at 4609 Duke Street, in a recently-shuttered Pier One storefront.
Other locations include 6721-B Frontier Drive in Springfield and 5800 Crossroads Circle in the Bailey's Crossroads area.
Spirit Halloween opens about 1,400 stores across the United States every year, In addition to costumes, the store offers all sorts of halloween decor, electronic and animatronic decorations and Halloween party supplies. The stores usually pop up in vacant storefronts in shopping centers.
This year, Spirit Halloween has teamed up with the Travel Channel to present a $10,000 sweepstakes associated with spooky Travel Channel shows throughout October.
Spirit Halloween also donates heavily to children's hospitals. "Spirit of Children has raised $65 million to provide Child Life funding for art, music, aquatic and pet therapy programs as well as the purchase of educational items and toys used for distraction during medical procedures," according to the company.
