Mayor Justin Wilson and 'the two Jacks' (Potomac Paddle Club founders Jack Maher and Jack Walten) on the pedal boat in Old Town Alexandria.
Potomac Paddle Club, the first “cycleboat” in the region, will be launching from Old Town starting Friday, May 28.
For two Friday’s each month this summer, they will be operating a two-and-a-half hour cruise that starts from The City of Alexandria Marina dock behind the Torpedo Factory and travels to National Harbor.
From Arlington, co-founders Jack Maher and Jack Walten wanted to create an intimate adventure for locals and tourists alike, allowing friends to enjoy a different view of the area's most popular monuments.
With a mahogany bar as it’s centerpiece, guests have the choice to pedal in tandem on the boat, even though it is motor-powered. Due to COVID-19, all of the Alexandria-based tours will be private groups of 10-16 passengers, perfect for birthdays, work events and celebrations. Since the pontoon pedal boat is BYOB, passengers may bring their own alcoholic beverages, with the exception of hard liquor.
