The weather may have been frightfully chilly, but that didn't stop a crowd of 100 children and their parents who got up early Sunday morning to celebrate the holiday season at Alexandria Living Magazine's Jingle Bell Jam at Hotel Heron in Old Town Alexandria.
Guests began streaming in at 8 a.m. to a hot breakfast buffet of scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, fruit salad, orange juice and coffee in the hotel's Heritage Ballroom.
The space was transformed into a holiday wonderland thanks to Home & Holiday Designs. Decorations
included a magical Christmas tree, sparkling winter white trees, red tablecloths, poinsettia plants, flickering votives and goody bags filled with playful holiday eye glasses, candy canes and chocolate treats for each guest. Oh, and an 8-foot Santa Claus!
The real Santa Claus warmly greeted each child during the event which took place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
After families took turns talking with Santa and having pictures taken thanks to Digital Motion Photography, they danced to some holiday beats by DJ Juan of Silver Spring Records.
Afterward, it was time for some fun with the hilarious Louis The Magician of ChildTime Magic.
All of the merriment was made possible thanks to our wonderful sponsors Babs Beckwith of Corcoran McEnearney, Doreen Trammell of Thrivent financial planners and U.S. Senate Federal Credit Union.
