When Paws in the Park and the highly anticipated costume contest was cancelled due to weather, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria knew they had to find another way to recognize the spooky, funny and creative pet costumes the Alexandria community has become known for.
In partnership with Realtor Bobby Mahoney, Corcoran McEnearney, and The Alexandrian Hotel, AWLA is hosting a Howl-o-Ween Party and Pet Costume Contest Thursday, Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at The Alexandrian Hotel, 480 King St., in Alexandria.
The costume contest begins at 6 p.m.
Registration to enter a pet in the contest is $25. Pre-registration is required. Registration will not be accepted on site. Space is limited, so register your pet today!
AWLA will award prizes for Spookiest, Funniest and Most Creative costumes. A “Best in Show” winner will be chosen from the three category winners and will receive a $100 Chewy giftcard. Humans are welcome to dress up with their animals, but it’s not required.
The event is free to attend and everyone is welcome to attend and watch the costumed-clad pets strut their stuff.
For the safety of everyone, all pets must be on non-retractable leashes that are 6 feet or shorter (or other species appropriate equipment). While AWLA loves all animals, this event is only appropriate for those who are comfortable in crowds and with other pets.

See you there!
