MGM National Harbor has a safety and reopening plan in place — and it will be allowed to reopen as early as June 19, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced Wednesday.
However, Prince George's County leaders are allowed to delay local openings if they feel it is necessary for health and safety. Neither Prince George's County nor MGM National Harbor have announced an opening date for the casino yet.
MGM has a safety and health plan ready for the National Harbor venue that includes physical distancing, safety barriers and more. (Read about MGM National Harbor's plan here.)
The “Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery” plan is now in its second phase. As of June 19, limited indoor dining will be allowed, gyms may reopen with reduced capacity and casinos, arcades and malls may reopen with health and safety measures in place.
MGM is opening other casinos throughout the country, including several in Las Vegas. MGM resorts that are open include the Bellagio, MGM Grand Las Vegas, New York-New York and The Signature at MGM Grand. Excalibur is set to open June 11 and Luxor is opening June 25. MGM National Harbor is not yet on the MGM website list of upcoming openings.
