There's a lot to love about a dog who knows how to relax. And this month, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria has an easygoing charmer ready to meet his people.
Meet Hector
Hector is a big boy with an even bigger heart. He is a very handsome guy, sporting a beautiful brown and white coat and an even more beautiful personality. Four-year-old Hector is very friendly, affectionate, and happiest when he is spending time with his favorite people. While he enjoys leisurely walks and will occasionally have a burst of joyful zoomies, Hector is definitely more of a 67-pound laid-back companion. After a quick run around, Hector is ready to settle in for what he likes best: cuddles, pets, and scratches. He also likes to rest his big head in your lap while soaking up all of your attention.
Hector is a really good balance of playful and calm, making him an easygoing companion for someone who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle. He would be happy to join you on a stroll, but he is not very interested in going on adventures in the extreme heat. Hector would much prefer the cooler weather and the bliss of air-conditioned naps in the meantime. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate best friend who will happily join you on walks and curl up beside you at the end of the day, Hector may just be your guy.

About the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) has been a resource for local pet lovers and a shelter for homeless animals since 1946. An independent, local nonprofit, the League operates the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter — Alexandria's only animal shelter and an open-admission facility — and has partnered with the City of Alexandria to provide animal care, control and sheltering services since 1989. Each year its staff and volunteers care for thousands of animals, from dogs and cats to rabbits, guinea pigs and the occasional iguana, along with local wildlife in distress. Adoption hours begin at noon every day except Wednesday, and the League's positive, relationship-based approach carries through everything from its training programs to the way it matches pets with new families.
