"Tucker is ready for his close-up!
This handsome boy is full of smiles and personality. His jaunty ears and active tail are sure to capture your heart. Tucker is a 1-year-old and weighs about 42 pounds.
He longs for a friend to take him on outdoor excursions and relax with at the end of the day. Tucker is at a fun age in dog years, with the energy and enthusiasm for life of a young pup.
He would benefit from positive training and guidance, like any dog of his age. Tucker could be the furry companion in your life for many happy years to come.

Since 1946, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) has been a resource for the community and a shelter for homeless animals. Through adoptions, spay and neuter assistance, education, community service and outreach, the AWLA plays a key role in promoting responsible pet care across Northern Virginia.
The AWLA has worked with the City of Alexandria to provide animal care, control, protection and sheltering services since 1989. They operate the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter, an open-admission facility accepting any and all animals brought to them from within the jurisdiction. They have made a commitment to help animals in need with the help of the area's amazing and animal-loving community.
They care for more than 2,000 animals per year, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, iguanas and chinchillas. Their specially trained staff also assist area wildlife that have been injured or are in distress, with the ultimate goal of releasing them back into their natural habitat or transferring them to licensed wildlife rehabilitators for care and eventual release.
