Forbes has come out with its annual list of the wealthiest people around the world. The list of billionaires includes at least nine Virginians. Here's what Forbes had to say, along with the list of Virginians:
There has never been a better time to be a billionaire. Thanks to AI’s explosion, sizzling markets and favorable fiscal policies, a record 3,428 entrepreneurs, investors and heirs made this year’s World’s Billionaires list, 400 more than in 2025. They are richer than ever, worth a record $20.1 trillion, up $4 trillion from last year. The U.S. has the most billionaires, with a record 989, including 15 of the top 20. China, including Hong Kong, is next, with 610, and India (229) ranks a distant third. Forbes used stock prices and exchange rates from March 1, 2026. •Robert Pender: $13.2 billion (Venture Global LNG) natural gas; he lives in Falls Church.
• Pamela Mars: $12.3 billion (Mars Inc.) heir; she lives in Alexandria.
• David D’Aniello: $4.7 billion (Carlyle Group) private equity; he lives in Vienna.
• Winifred J. Marquart: $4.5 billion (SC Johnson) cleaning products; she lives in Virginia Beach.
• William Conway, Jr.: $4.1 billion (Carlyle Group); he lives in McLean.
• Michael Saylor: $3.9 billion (MicroStrategy) bitcoin, software; he lives in McLean/Vienna and Florida.
• Steve Case: $2.4 billion (AOL/Revolution); he lives in McLean.
• Sheila Johnson: $1.2 billion (BET/Salamander Hotels); she lives in The Plains.
