The Fairfax County Park Authority has started reopening parking lots and parks across the region.
Wednesday through Friday, May 20 to 22, County staff will start removing barricades, gates and caution tape, allowing for limited use of park facilities while following COVID-19 safety guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state authorities.
All facilities and restrooms will remain closed. Playgrounds and basketball courts and dog parks will also remain closed. However, open spaces and trails will open.
“We greatly appreciate the patience and cooperation shown by County residents during this closure,” said Park Authority Executive Director Kirk Kincannon. “We understand this has been a challenge to many who enjoy the park system on a regular basis. And it will be important that everyone follows the safety and physical distancing guidelines recommended by health authorities.”
