Spring2ACTion, Alexandria's annual day of giving to support local nonprofit organizations and community groups, is Wednesday, April 26.
Several businesses in Alexandria are giving back in their own way by donating a percentage of sales to various nonprofit organizations.
A complete list of these are available at www.spring2action.org/info/events. Here are some highlights of events happening Wednesday:
- Alexandria Seaport Foundation — Play chess with a Seaport Foundation apprentice
- BARtanical — 10% of sales all day will be donated to the Del Ray Farmers’ Market
- Bike Club VA — Hear the Alexandria Harmonizers performing at the Bike Club in Old Town North at 9 p.m.
- Del Ray Cafe — 10% of sales all day will be donated to At Home Alexandria
- District Biscuit — 15% of sales all day will be donated to Alexandria Celebrates Women
- Evening Star Cafe & Front Porch — The Cafe will contribute a portion of all sales from 5 p.m. to close to Wilderness Kids Alexandria
- Grape & Bean — 10% of all sales from 7am to 8pm will be donated to Pawfectly Delicious Dog Treats
- Holy Cow — 10% of sales all day will be donated to Alexandria Little League
- Kaizen Tavern — 10% of all sales from 4pm to 12am will be donated to ALIVE!
- Just Neighbors — Attend a virtual talk with Dominique Poirier, the Director of Legal Services at Just Neighbors, at noon Wednesday, April 26, to learn about current immigration laws.
- Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap — 15% of sales all day will be donated to Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (please mention AWLA)
- Lloyd House — Sneak into the "SpeakEasy" starting at 6 p.m. supporting the Historic Alexandria Oral History Program.
- Look Again Resale Shop — Purchase a commemorative tote bag for $10 and take 30% off everything you can stuff in it. Purchases support the Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington.
- Matt & Tony’s All-Day Kitchen & Bar — 20% of Happy Hour sales will be donated to Jefferson-Houston PTA
- Pork Barrel BBQ — 10% of sales all day will be donated to The Men’s Home
- St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub in Del Ray — 10% of all sales from 7am to 7pm will be donated to Senior Services of Alexandria
- Swing's Coffee Roasters - 15% of all proceeds will support Volunteer Alexandria. Free prizes with additional donations of $25 or more.
- Taqueria Poblano — 25 cents for each taco sold all day will be donated to Titan Robotics.
Last year, Spring2ACTion raised $2.55 million for 172 nonprofits and community organizations.
