The American Horticultural Society (AHS), the national organization dedicated to inspiring Americans to garden for the benefits to all, is excited to announce an expansion of its educational travel program, aimed at making horticultural exploration available to more people.
AHS Travel is introducing a new program line, AHS Adventures, designed to make it easier for garden lovers on a travel budget to explore fascinating destinations while still embracing AHS’ signature focus on education and authentic local experiences.
Participants will enjoy stays in comfortable hotels, authentic dining experiences and engaging horticultural activities – all designed to provide enriching, in-depth exploration without compromising on quality. In addition to these new programs, AHS will continue to offer its longstanding and popular premium service level programs, now called AHS Sojourns, featuring stays in exceptional hotels, gourmet dining, and exclusive travel experiences.
The expansion of AHS’ travel offerings allows travelers to choose between a range of experiences that best fit their preferred travel style and budget, while still engaging in educational and meaningful exploration.
“AHS Travel’s mission has always been to educate, inspire, and connect people through a shared love of gardens, cultural immersion, and exploring beauty in the world,” said Suzanne Laporte, president and CEO of AHS.
“By offering both AHS Sojourns and AHS Adventures, we’re able to fulfill our goal of making these transformative journeys available to a wider range of travelers. Every trip we offer is an opportunity to engage deeply with gardens and the communities that create them. We look forward to welcoming our long-time travelers and new AHS explorers on these incredible journeys.”
The first departure of the new AHS Adventures program portfolio will take travelers to Costa Rica in January 2026 – a lush destination that offers abundant horticultural discoveries, stunning landscapes, and unique local experiences. With limited spaces available, those interested in joining this new adventure are encouraged to reserve their spot early.
In addition, Master Gardener Extension Volunteers may opt to submit learning experiences on AHS travel programs (i.e., expert-guided garden visits and talks by horticulturists) for consideration toward continuing education requirements.
Whether one chooses to embark on an AHS Sojourn or an AHS Adventure, every trip promises a journey blossoming with garden-focused exploration and culturally immersive experiences.
