Hello Alexandrians! Why we love the Fort Hunt Community….
I have lived in Fort Hunt (zip code 22308 and a small slice of zip code 22306)) since 1992 and I am the biggest fan!
Why am I obsessed with our wonderful community?
Let me count the ways:
Small town vibe but 10 minutes to Old Town and 20 minutes to the District.
Wonderful neighborhoods (filled with wonderful neighbors) with easy access to the George Washington Bike Path and The Potomac River and Fort Hunt Park.
Most neighborhoods have sidewalks and a community pool and all neighborhoods have mature trees. Many neighborhoods have a walkable elementary school.
I love to use the example of raising my (now grown) children here and how they were supported and grounded in a wonderful community – both of them had Waynewood Dolphins in their wedding parties and have made lifelong friendships here.
Wildlife is abundant here – foxes, eagles, deer bird life abounds on the Potomac. Fort Hunt Park is amazing for wildlife and recreation!
An adorable and convenient shopping center (Hollin Hall) which features a Safeway, a 7-11, a Walgreens, The Hollin Hall Variety Store (a must visit throw back from the 50’s/60’s),
Nepenthe Gallery, The Cut Butchery, Fort Hunt Pilates, River Bend Bistro, Via Venuto, Hunan Manor, Roseina’s, Hollin Hall Pastry Shop, Village Hardware, Hooray Art, Nature Nibbles, Hairvisions, Hollin Hall Barber Shop, 529 Hollin Hall. (sorry if I left any retail businesses out – reach out to me and we can add you)
Fort Hunt features the most amazing commute in NOVA:
- Bike commuting
- The F19 express bus to Old Town and Downtown DC (formally the 11Y)
- Drive into work along the Prozac Parkway (George Washington Parkway) take in views of the Potomac and lush greenery.
So close in to all major commuter routes and the action, but calm and quiet with room to breathe.
Let us know how we can help you find your dream home in the Fort Hunt Community or beyond!
