More than 800 people gathered at Fort Ward Sunday for the annual Walk to Beat Breast Cancer, an annual fundraiser by Alexandria's National Breast Center Foundation.
The National Breast Center, founded by Alexandria resident Dr. David Weintritt, offers state-of-the-art breast imaging and cancer treatment. The foundation helps provide mammograms and other services to women who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford them.
The walk surpassed its goal of $125,000 this year.
Top donations through teams and individual fundraisers came from the FiliBUSTers, ALX Community, Villimay, Carolyn Siegal and Delia Sullivan.
The center is still accepting donations through www.walktobustcancer.org.
