Two new Orangetheory Fitness gyms are opening in Alexandria.
One of the new Orangetheory Fitness locations will be in the Bradlee Shopping Center next to Zoe's. Orangetheory Fitness hasn't made a formal announcement about that gym, at 3624 King Street, but a development company has pulled construction permits for the Orangetheory project, and branded tables and chairs are on site. The space was formerly occupied by a bank.
The other Orangetheory Fitness will be at 2381 Eisenhower Avenue, directly across from the Eisenhower Metro Station. Orangetheory Fitness has announced that location will open in 2019. The 2381 space is on the west end of The Meridian residential and retail building.
Orangetheory Fitness offers a series of hour-long, unique, group training fitness programs. The program is based on high-intensity interval training based on heart rate, and the company claims that its workouts help participants keep burning extra calories for up to 36-hour after a workout.
Each Orangetheory Fitness studio has treadmills, rowing machines, suspension unit systems, free weight, benches, bikes and striders.
The company already has locations in Old Town Alexandria, in Potomac Yard and in Kingstowne. Other area locations include Arlington, Falls Church, Merrifield, Fairfax City and Lorton. The company started in Florida in 2010 and there are now more than 750 locations around the world.
