Tropical Smoothie Cafe will open its doors at Bradlee Shopping Center, replacing a spot formerly occupied by B&C Jewelers, which had been a staple at the center for decades before closing in recent months.
The 983 square-foot cafe will be located at 3610-G King St., in Alexandria, sandwiched between SunTrust Bank and Duck Donuts.
The cafe menu will include flatbreads, quesadillas, wraps, sandwiches, bowls and breakfast items and, of course, smoothies. Hours vary from store to store but it's generally open from about 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Some of the most popular smoothies include Sunrise Sunset (a mixture of strawberries, pineapple, mango and orange juice); Island Green (spinach, kale, mango, pineapple and banana) and Acai Berry Boost (açaí, pomegranate, bananas, blueberries and strawberries).
There are several Tropical Smoothie Cafes located in Alexandria, including at Potomac Greens, Belle View Shopping Center and Pinecrest Plaza.
Tropical Smoothie began as a smoothie shop in 1993 along the panhandle of Florida. Tropical Smoothie Franchise Development Corporation was founded in 1997 in Destin, Fla., and the first franchised store opened in 1998 in Tallahassee, Fla. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is headquartered in Atlanta.
