One of Falls Church's favorite restaurants will open a location in Alexandria.
Thompson Italian is taking over the old Hank's Oyster Bar location at 1024 King St. Hank's Oyster Bar moved to Old Town North (818 N. St. Asaph St.) in April.
Thompson Italian is a family-owned restaurant that opened in 2019. "At Thompson Italian, expect fresh pasta, hand-spun gelato, and inventive seasonal dishes. We designed our restaurant to be a casual spot where anyone can stop in for a bowl of pasta, a dessert, or a glass of wine without fuss and pretense. We’ll make sure you can find great food and a fun night out with the family in one place, so bring the kids!" the website notes.
The restaurant was started by two New York City chef-owners who moved to Virginia to be closer to family. Gabe and Katherine Thompson were chef-owners at a variety of NYC restaurants, including L’Artusi, Anfora, and L’Apicio. In Virginia, they teamed up with KC Hamilton (a Rose's Luxury alum) to open Thompson Italian.
In addition to dine-in options, Thompson Italian offers meals to cook at home and cooked supper trays. The restaurant is open for dinner only in Falls Church (at 124 N. Washington St.).
The opening date is not yet set in Alexandria.
