A restaurant called Milk & Honey has its sights on Alexandria. After opening its 15th Milk & Honey this week in Waldorf, Md., the company announced it also has plans to open a restaurant this summer in Alexandria, although the location was not disclosed.
"This opening is just the beginning of an ambitious growth phase for the Milk & Honey brand," Thompson Restaurants, the parent company, noted in a press release Thursday. The company plans to open several locations this summer in Virginia (in addition to Alexandria), in Hampton and Virginia Beach.
Milk & Honey already has a presence in the Alexandria area at 6305 Richmond Hwy. in Fairfax County. Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Here's a description of the eatery: "Milk & Honey ... promises a fresh perspective on Southern-inspired cuisine, blending elevated flavors with a lively, stylish atmosphere."
The Maryland restaurant that opened this week is described as a new space "designed to impress, featuring dramatic statement lighting, metal-tiled ceilings, and plush copper-crushed velvet banquettes. Bold, patterned tile floors add a playful yet refined touch, while whimsical wallpaper brings an element of unexpected charm."
Popular menu items on the Southern-influenced menu include dishes such as Crispy Salmon Hash, Carolina Low Country Gumbo, Deviled Eggs, Caribbean Jerk Lamb Chops and the popular Chicken and Biscoff Waffles. Guests can also enjoy a selection of fresh salads, towering sandwiches, decadent desserts and creative cocktails.
