The Alexandria Board of Architectural Review will examine revised design plans for Waterfront Taco Factory, coming to the space that for years has been occupied by Big Wheel Bikes at 2 Prince St. on the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria. The Board will take a look at the plans at their meeting coming up on June 5 at 301 King St. in Alexandria.
The designs are by architect Paul Beckmann. Previous renderings showed a rooftop terrace.
The 1,932-square foot eatery is slated to become "a full-service restaurant featuring gourmet tacos in a casual open bodega."
Local builder Murray Bonitt, of Bonitt Builders, who is an owner of the new Cooper Mill restaurant, is one of the owners of Waterfront Taco Factory, according to paperwork filed with the city.
Big Wheel Bikes has been in business since 1971 at the 2 Prince St. location but is moving to nearby 110 S. Union St. It is owned by Eric Westerman, who also owns the Arlington location.
The bike shop sells new and used bikes, performs bicycle service and repairs, and rents bicycles to locals and tourists. The company's other location is at 3119 Langston Blvd. (formerly Lee Highway) in Arlington.
