Ping by Charlie Chiang's has closed its doors in Shirlington Village.
Charlie Chiang's Ping restaurant in Shirlington Village recently closed its doors after three decades in business.
The popular restaurant featured an extensive menu of traditional Chinese dishes and a sushi bar. The longtime eatery offered delivery service, pickup and early evening specials.
The restaurant at 4060 Campbell Ave. was one of several in the family-run business.
The family also closed its Charlie Chiang's restaurant in Centreville and their Charlie Chiang's eatery in Naples, Fla. The Centreville location closed in May when the lease expired and the family chose not to renew. The Naples location "closed until further notice" on July 2. Charlie Chiang's also had a restaurant in Crystal City that closed in 2015.
The family's Kizuna Sushi & Ramen at Tysons and Charlie Chiang's Kwai, also at Tysons, remain open.
Charlie Chiang's Ping amassed three out of four stars from its 343 reviews on Yelp.
Currently, passersby will see artwork on display in the former restaurant's windows, courtesy of restaurant and artist studio Palette 22, which specializes in small plates and features artwork by artists who often create their work at the eatery. Palette 22, by Alexandria Restaurant Partners, is across the street from Ping.
