Italian food lovers take note: There are signs afoot —literally — that Rosemarino D'Italia will reopen its doors soon in Alexandria's Del Ray neighborhood.
Rosemarino D'Italia's large sign out front notes: "We're Back! And you're invited. We believe in love at first bite!"
The restaurant closed July 28, 2021 at its Alexandria location, at 1905 Mount Vernon Ave., after serving up Italian cuisine there for eight years.
The restaurant, like many eateries, suffered difficulties during the pandemic. The owners carried on at its second location in Dupont Circle in DC, at 1714 Connecticut Ave. NW.
A large sign on the Del Ray restaurant notes its coming opening, but no date has been announced.
The owners' closing announcement nearly two years ago discussed their difficulties, which so many businesses also suffered, due to the COVID-19 pandemic:
"We are deeply saddened to announce that our 8 year journey at 1905 Mount Vernon Avenue will be coming to an end. We didn’t expect to make this tough decision of closing our doors. From the moment COVID-19 struck, it placed everyone in a challenging position and pushed us to adopt a new survival mode. We managed to fight the battle with the support from our customers, it encouraged us to continue on what we love to do! Unfortunately, we didn’t get the support we needed from our landlord and the 8 years we had enjoyed being together wasn’t enough to help through this unprecedented time. We felt that we were not being treated equally and fairly during this past year of hardship that every business had been forced into. We’ll miss our Delray family and everyone who has supported us. Our second location is still open and invite you all to stop by and visit us in DC, located in DuPont Circle (1714 Connecticut ave NW). We’ll come back stronger, in the meantime Ciao! ❤️ Thank you 🙏🏼"
