Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza and Tap has done it again with their seasonal transformation of the second level of their restaurant. The latest theme, called Velvet & Rye, opened on Nov. 5 and is “reminiscent of an intimate setting from the Golden Age of the 1920s and the birth of new prosperity, jazz and glamour,” according to restaurant owners.
Velvet & Rye is the fourth concept to transform the Loft at Lena’s beginning in December 2020 with the Winter Lodge. Spring saw the arrival of Full Bloom before Oceans 21 in the summer. The dramatic transformations take place in only five days (read more information about that process here).
Velvet & Rye features a variety of 1920s inspired drinks including Plum Bourbon Smash, Earl Grey Old Fashioned, and the Velvet & Rye Smoked Manhattan. The dining menu includes seasonal items like Apple & Butternut Squash Soup topped with crème fraiche, pumpkin seed oil, and pistachio; Spicy Honey Pork Belly starter with toasted pistachios and spicy calabrese honey; and a Grilled Lamb Chops entrée with charred broccolini, pine nuts, and gremolata. Diners can top off their meal with Affogato – a classic Italian espresso-based dessert with amaretto, vanilla gelato, and praline hazelnut vanilla cookies.
Velvet & Rye will also showcase live local jazz on Thursday nights.
