A slew of food venues have announced opening dates in Alexandria, giving us lots to look forward to this spring. Put these dates on your calendar:
Foxtrot — The third major opening this week, Foxtrot announced it is opening on Thursday, March 3. Read more about the gourmet grocery and cafe here. (The other two this week: Bob & Edith's opened its 24-hour diner near the King Street Metro. The Fresh Baguette also opened.)
Dos Jefes — In the Huntington neighborhood, at 2249 Huntington Ave., Dos Jefes has announced it is opening on March 8.
Hank's Oyster Bar — The longtime King Street staple is moving to Old Town North. The oyster bar at 1026 King St. will be closing on Sunday, March 13. The new restaurant, at the corner of Montgomery and North St. Asaph streets, will open April 7. (Yes, it's where the old Hank's Pasta Bar used to be!)
Matt & Tony's — In Del Ray, Matt & Tony's is gearing up for an opening in mid-March, with an exact date still TBD.
Wegmans — The Wegmans grocery store in the Carlyle neighborhood has set an opening date of May 11. The store is 81,300 square feet and is part of the new Carlyle Crossing development, which will welcome additional retail in the coming months.
