The owners of Alexandria restaurant Mystic Bar & Grill recently announced that they are closing their eatery at 220 N. Lee St. in Old Town. The final day the restaurant will be open is Sunday, Nov. 30, according to owners Ralph Davis and son Matt Davis.
Ralph Davis is a legendary restaurateur in Alexandria, known mainly for his ownership and management of RT's Restaurant for 32 years but also for his hand in many others in Old Town and Arlington.
The restaurant serves up Southern classics, hickory-smoked barbecue, crab soup, crab cake and other signature sandwiches, bananas foster bread pudding and much more. It racked up 4.5 stars out of 5 on Yelp from 70 reviews like this one earlier this year:
"I originally ordered from Grub hub the catfish and grits from this establishment. It was so good that I decided to make an in person trip. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed at all. The food is even better in person. Everything we ate was sooooo delicious. I forgot to take a picture of the chargrilled oysters we had because it was soo bomb.com we devoured it. kisses to the chef.
Our waiter was really nice and took great care of us. He even made recommendations for other restaurants that have live music options."
This restaurant was extremely clean and reminds you of an "western style pub" with a modern touch.
Here's the message the restaurant owners posted to their followers on Facebook:
"We have made the difficult decision to close at the end of the month. Since opening almost two years ago, we’ve faced challenges, and unfortunately the last few months have become unsustainable. As of now, our final day of service is planned for Sunday, November 30th.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us—our friends, family, staff, and especially our customers. We’ve truly enjoyed our time here, being part of the neighborhood, seeing old friends, and making new ones.
Sincerely,
Matt & Ralph Davis
Mystic Grill opened in April 2024 after Myron Mixon's Pitmaster BBQ vacated the space after seven years.
