The new Yunnan Pentagon City location will officially open its doors on Wednesday, Jan. 29, which marks the start of the Lunar New Year.
The restaurant, run by chef and owner Shao Bruce, has attracted diners with its authentic flavors and vibrant cultural experiences. It announced this week the opening of its new location in Pentagon City. This location replaces their flagship restaurant in Old Town Alexandria, which closed its doors to make way for this new chapter.
The previous location was at 814 N. Fairfax St. in Alexandria.
“Our Old Town Alexandria location was an incredible journey, and the community’s love for our cuisine has been deeply inspiring,” said Chef Shao. “With our new Pentagon City location, we’re excited to bring even more people together to celebrate the rich flavors inspired by the Yunnan province in southwest China.”
To mark the grand opening, Yunnan will honor the Lunar New Year with a series of special events and menu items. Guests can look forward to indulging in dishes that celebrate prosperity and joy, such as:
• Live Caught Whole Norwegian King Crab – A celebration of the season’s finest flavors.
• Longevity Mixian Noodles – Wishing you health and long life.
• Lucky Jiaozi Dumplings – Savory delights filled with prosperity.
• Crispy Whole Red Snapper – Representing abundance and joy.
Yunnan will also be offering take-home family feasts, featuring generous portions of their most beloved dishes, perfect for celebrating special moments at home with loved ones.
Yunnan will unveil an exciting new cocktail menu curated by their master mixologist, featuring festive drinks inspired by the season’s vibrant colors and flavors. Highlights include the "Dragon Blossom," a lychee-infused cocktail, and the "Jade Emperor," a refreshing mix of cucumber, gin, and a touch of elderflower.
Yunnan Pentagon City will also introduce a weekend brunch menu, featuring fusion favorites such as Tea-Smoked Salmon Benedict and Scallion Pancake Breakfast Tacos. Guests can also enjoy hands-on culinary experiences with our Cocktail Making Class and Dumpling Making Class, perfect for food enthusiasts looking to learn and savor the art of crafting authentic Yunnanese cuisine.
“We’re thrilled to bring more space and new experiences to our growing community,” added Chef Shao. “The Pentagon City location allows us to expand our offerings while staying true to the heart of what makes Yunnan special: authentic flavors, exceptional hospitality, and a vibrant celebration of culture.”
The new restaurant is located at 72115th Street South, Unit 150 in Arlington. You can also explore their website at yunnanbypotomac.com. Reservations for dining, special events and classes can also be made online.
