The crowd at the Alexandria Cider Festival earlier this fall proved that cider fans are here and ready for what’s coming.
What’s coming? A cidery.
Lost Boy Cider has applied for a special use permit for a cider production facility in the Eisenhower East neighborhood. The vacant warehouse space at 317 Hooffs Run Drive would include an accessory tasting room (for sales and tastings).
Lost Boy Cider is the brainchild of Tristan Wright, who discovered after a hospitalization that he was allergic to soy and gluten. A quest to reinvent his diet followed, which led into researching cider as a alternative to wine and beer.
According to the Lost Boy Cider website, “Tristan wanted to do something simple; create an American-made handcrafted cider here at home. Anyone who knows anything about cider making knows that this is not as easy as it sounds. Two years of research and now armed with certificates from Cornell and Oregon State University's Cider Production schools, here we are.”
Lost Boy Cider focuses on using Virginia apples in its cider.
Proposed hours are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, and noon to 10 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
