The grocery store Lidl announced that it will host a pop-up market outside its first Alexandria store on Sept. 5 and 6 ahead of the grand opening.
The Lidl Farmers Market pop-up in the store’s parking lot will be open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6.
The grand opening is Wednesday, Sept. 9.
“It is exciting to see the continued growth of Lidl in Fairfax County. In all corners of our County, there needs to be equitable access to the resources that are critical for a community’s success,” said Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeffrey McKay in a statement.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 7:40 a.m. on Sept. 9 at the store, at 6548 Little River Turnpike. The store will open at 8 a.m. Store hours will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
At the store’s grand opening, customers will be able to take advantage of get-them-while-you-can grand opening special offers. The first 100 customers will be presented with a special gift card ranging from $5 to $100 each. In addition, shoppers can enter to win a $500 Lidl gift card.
Lidl is taking the place of a shuttered Staples store in the Pinecrest Plaza shopping center.
Lidl launched in the 1970s in Europe and arrived in the United States in 2017. Most of Lidl's offerings are from its own private label.
Be sure to bring your own bag — Lidl does not provide plastic or paper grocery bags for customers.
