The Toys R Us at Bailey's Crossroads is turning into a Food Star grocery store.
A Food Star international grocery store will open where the Toys 'R' Us closed in the Bailey's Crossroads area.
The building at 5521 Leesburg Pike was a Toys 'R' Us until the toy company declared bankruptcy and closed all retail outlets. TruKids brand, the new parent of Toys 'R' Us, is focusing on smaller, more experienced-based retail experiences.
Food Star is a grocery store that brings in many products from Latin America and the Carribbean. The company has another location at 206 W. Glebe Road in the Arlandria area.
A testimonial on the Arlandria Food Store website noted, "Pricing is fair or below other supermarkets. The choices are not limited to same choices found in other big name supermarkets. The aisles are filled with foos of various cultures. There is a fresh meat area. Lots of fresh fruits & veggies. Free parking & handicapped accessibility."
Food Star has not announced an opening date.
The closed Babies 'R' Us near the new Food Star is turning into an ALDI, as is the Toys 'R' Us building in Kingstowne.
