Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken will be moving into the Alexandria Commons Shopping Center later this year.
Serving up Nashville-style hot chicken (from plain to "angry hot"), the restaurant concept comes from Sweet Frog frozen yogurt founder Derek Cha and his business partner Mike Kim. The company did not respond to a request for comment.
The restaurant is certified Halal and serves up a variety of chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, loaded waffle fries and salad (with chicken). Korean-style chicken nuggets and fried okra are also on the menu.
Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken has locations in Ashland, Fairfax and Herndon, Virginia, and in Annapolis, Maryland and started opening restaurants in 2021. Restaurants will be opening in Texas and New Jersey, too. The company is offering franchise development opportunities.
The Alexandria Commons Hangry Joe's Hot Chicken will be at 3227 Duke St., replacing a closed Subway.
Frank Pepe's Pizzeria Napoletana will be opening just a few doors down at 3231 Duke St. later this year.
