A few local business owners have combined forces to bring a NY-style pizza-by-the-slice venue to Old Town.
Handover by the Slice opened recently at 728 King Street, below King’s Ransom.
Teddy Kim of Avanti Holdings Group, Ian McGrath of Alexandria Realty and Gregg Linzey of Chewish Deli combined forces to bring old-school arcade games to the venue with a nostalgic feel. The director of operations is Rob Csonka.
“My specialty is helping locally-grown businesses secure a hand-crafted real estate space in our community that brings diversity and the unique characteristics to Alexandria instead of the nationally or regionally recognized chains. This is where we all live so we want to serve our community and see it thrive,” McGrath said.
Handover by the Slice makes their dough and robust sauce in-house daily.
“The pizza has a very thin layer of crunch at the bottom of the slice with a soft and airy crust,” Linzey explained.
In addition to offering traditional NY-style pizzas by the slice, 18” whole pies are also available along with appetizers, beer and wine. The shop also features a daily specialty pizza.
Handover by the Slice is opens every day at 11 a.m. It closes at midnight Monday through Thursday, at 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 11 p.m. Sundays.
Online is ordering available. Delivery will be available soon.
