A new French bakery is opening in Old Town on March 1.
The Fresh Baguette, at 1101 King St., will be giving away free baguettes (while supplies last, starting at 7 a.m. opening day). In addition, the first 20 people in line at 7 a.m. on March 1 will win free croissants for a year.
Residents will be able to purchase a $3 Fresh Baguette sampler to benefit Carpenter's Shelter.
Fresh Baguette was founded in 2013 by former Florent de Felcourt, a former French naval officer, in Bethesda, Maryland. The kitchen features a stone oven imported from France and, with a cold dough process and homemade "levain," yields "a baguette that is light, airy, with just the right crunch," according to the company. Fresh Baguette also has locations in Rockville and Georgetown.
