Founding Farmers Alexandria, a popular farmer-owned restaurant known for scratch-made dishes and sustainable practices, will officially open its doors to the public on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 7 a.m.
This location has a decadent bakery and cafe where house-roasted coffee and freshly baked pastries are the stars of the show. The first 100 people to visit the bakery and cafe on opening day will receive free tea or coffee for a year and a specialty tote bag.

Cocktails at Founding Farmers
This highly anticipated new location, at 461 Swann Ave., in Alexandria, brings Founding Farmers' signature hospitality, award-winning comfort food, and commitment to sourcing responsibly to Alexandria.
The new Founding Farmers Alexandria is located in the Potomac Yard neighborhood. The restaurant features an expansive, American-inspired menu with dishes like rotisserie chicken, fried chicken and waffles, farmhouse sushi, fresh salads, sandwiches, pastas, seafood, steaks, and indulgent scratch-made desserts. In addition, the Bakery & Cafe will offer freshly baked pastries, sweet treats, artisan chocolates, and house-roasted coffee.
Guests can also enjoy a full-service bar featuring handcrafted cocktails made with Founding Spirits, an award-winning distillery based in Washington, D.C. The bar’s design draws inspiration from Alexandria’s historic Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary and includes a stunning custom art piece showcasing hand-blown glass tubing and organic-shaped bottles.
The interior design celebrates American family farms while blending nostalgic elements with modern art. Original commissioned artwork, custom glass decanters, and artisan tiles telling the stories of pollinators and farming enhance the atmosphere.
In line with Founding Farmers' commitment to sustainability, the Alexandria location features energy-efficient systems, composting, and innovative waste-reduction programs to minimize its environmental footprint.
