A new Tex-Mex restaurant called Dos Hermanos is coming to Del Ray.
Jose Flores, the manager of Dos Amigos Restaurant at 525 E. Braddock Road, has told Alexandria Living that it is not affiliated with the new restaurant opening at 1603 Commonwealth Ave.

"The Springfield location [Dos Amigos] did close down and two of the three partners have split up. Two of the partners have decided to open their own restaurant called 'Dos Hermanos'. This is not affiliated with our restaurant at all," he said in an email to Alexandria Living.
Dos Hermanos will open on the corner of Commonwealth and E. Monroe avenues in Del Ray. No date has been set for the Commonwealth Avenue opening.
The Springfield Dos Amigos closed its doors last week.
The Del Ray neighborhood is currently home to at least two Mexican restaurants including Taqueria Poblano at 2400B Mount Vernon Ave. and Los Tios Grill, 2615 Mount Vernon Ave.
The new Los Hermanos opening in Del Ray will take the place of Elo's Italian, which closed its doors March 31. Elo's Italian owners Justus Frank and Jeremy Barber originally opened the restaurant as Live Oak in 2016 but switched gears when the pandemic hit.
Before that, the location was home to Monroe's, which opened in 1996 and closed Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2015, after the owners retired.
Frank and Barber posted a letter on social media March 22 saying goodbye to their patrons:
It’s time for us at Elo’s Italian to move on.
Friday, March 31st will be our last dinner service open. We have sold our business and are passing the torch to another group.
It has been our privilege to serve you and your families in this location for the last seven years. The Del Ray community has embraced us and our multiple concepts and for that we are truly grateful.
Our staff is the major reason we have been able to operate this family restaurant in the heart of Del Ray. There are no words to express our level of respect for them, their efforts, and their amazing loyalty.
We look forward to seeing your smiling faces at @thegardendelray and the soon to be open @millstdraftgarden located in historic Occoquan, VA.
