Rosemarino D'Italia will close its doors after Wednesday, July 28 at its Alexandria location in Del Ray, after serving up Italian cuisine to its customers for the past eight years there, according to manager Edward Camacho.
The restaurant, located at 1905 Mt. Vernon Ave., like many eateries, suffered difficulties during the pandemic. Due to miscommunication with the landlord over what they thought were offers of help, that are not coming, the restaurant will close its doors, said Camacho.
The restaurant owners hope to reopen a location in Alexandria at some point, but not any time in the near future, he said.
The restaurant also operates a location in DC with no plans to close at 1714 Connecticut Ave. NW.
The owners also made an announcement about the closing on their Instagram account:
"We are deeply saddened to announce that our 8 year journey at 1905 Mount Vernon Avenue will be coming to an end. We didn’t expect to make this tough decision of closing our doors. From the moment COVID-19 struck, it placed everyone in a challenging position and pushed us to adopt a new survival mode. We managed to fight the battle with the support from our customers, it encouraged us to continue on what we love to do! Unfortunately, we didn’t get the support we needed from our landlord and the 8 years we had enjoyed being together wasn’t enough to help through this unprecedented time. We felt that we were not being treated equally and fairly during this past year of hardship that every business had been forced into. We’ll miss our Delray family and everyone who has supported us. Our second location is still open and invite you all to stop by and visit us in DC, located in DuPont Circle (1714 Connecticut ave NW). We’ll come back stronger, in the meantime Ciao! ❤️ Thank you 🙏🏼
Our last day @Del Ray will be on July 28th!"
