Cortado Café, which opened in 2021 in the Foxchase Shopping Center in Alexandria, is opening a second location in Springfield.
The family-owned café serves a variety of baked goods in addition to a full menu of hot breakfast and lunch items, salads, coffee drinks, teas and milkshakes. Its Foxchase location has gotten rave reviews.
The second location will open in Springfield at 6691 Backlick Road in Brookfield Plaza in early September, according to the company.
The word cortado comes from the Spanish 'to cut' and in this context it refers to cutting an espresso with milk to reduce the acidity of the drink.
