City Cruises D.C. will launch a series of celebrity guest cruises on Thursday, July 17 with “Maximum Flavor with Chef Adrianne: A Culinary Voyage,” a new immersive culinary experience with Chef Adrianne Calvo, an award-winning Chicago-born chef and restauranteur.
Calvo is not only an acclaimed American chef and restaurateur, but a cookbook author and TV personality, widely recognized for her "Maximum Flavor" cooking philosophy. Born in Chicago and raised in Miami, her culinary journey began serendipitously when a high school scheduling mix-up placed her in a cooking class instead of a journalism course.This "lightning strike" moment, followed by a visit from Johnson & Wales University, ignited her passion for cooking. She later attended Johnson & Wales, where she excelled in culinary competitions. Calvo published her first cookbook, Maximum Flavor, at a young age.
At just 22, Calvo opened her first restaurant in Miami, Chef Adrianne's Vineyard Restaurant and Bar, inspired by a trip to Napa Valley. This establishment, along with Cracked by Chef Adrianne and the upcoming Baked by Chef Adrianne, have become popular dining destinations, earning numerous awards and accolades, including "Best Restaurant Miami" and "Best Chef Miami." Beyond her restaurants, she's an Emmy-nominated YouTube show host for "Searching for Maximum Flavor," where she explores global ingredients. Calvo is also deeply committed to philanthropy, having founded the Make It Count Foundation in honor of her late sister, Jennifer, supporting organizations like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
As part of the July 17 event, guests will enjoy an expertly curated four-course menu blending Washington’s unique culinary scene with Calvo’s signature “Maximum Flavor” style. While dining, Chef Adrianne will give a cooking demonstration, educating passengers on her inspiration, favorite flavors and ingredients. While enjoying stunning views of the nation’s capital from the water, guests will also have access to a full bar to enjoy cocktails and music provided by an onboard DJ.
City Cruises first-of-its-kind series will bring notable musical artists, celebrity chefs, sports legends and other celebrities and entertainers onboard in 2025, offering guests a personalized, one-of-a-kind experience all while enjoying the city skyline aboard City Cruises’ vessels.
