Get your winter comfort food fix before the season ends at Lena’s Winter Lodge next week by indulging in National Meatball Day, coming up on Tuesday, March 9. Dig into one of the lodge's meatball signature recipes at Lena’s Wood-Fired Pizza & Tap, 401 E. Braddock Road in Alexandria.
The recipes date back to owner Jason Yates' childhood, when his mom, Lena, created family traditions and memories through Italian comfort food. Look for some delicious meatball items on the menu, including Lena’s Giant Meatball Starter, Meatball Panini, Meatball and Spaghetti, and Meatball Pizza. On National Meatball Day, they will be 50 percent off, using the promo code MEATBALLDAY.
Be sure to visit the wintry loft while you can. The Loft at Lena’s — a 4,500-square foot, second-floor space, resembles a winter haven that transports those inside to a picturesque, Aspen-inspired lodge.
“The Loft at Lena’s became some winter escape that existed in my mind," said Katie Kirby, creative director of Revolution Event Design & Production.
"I wanted guests to be transported out of everyday life and into a world that was beautiful and far less serious than ours," she noted. "Our hope was to create an environment where everyone who visits, can enjoy a fun and safe night out and I think we met and exceeded that expectation.”
As the seasons change, so will the look of the space, the Yates family, said: "The Winter Lodge is only the first of several 'future themes' that will transform the space at The Loft at Lena’s.”
The Loft will close temporarily on March 22, when temperatures will rise in The Loft at Lena’s Winter Lodge to reveal a new spring theme on March 26.
To meet and exceed COVID-19 safety guidelines, Lena’s has installed a UV-C fan that kills 99.99 percent of airborne pathogens, including COVID-19, according to the restaurant.
