Cava has opened a "Digital Kitchen" in the Bradlee Shopping Center on King Street.
The concept is a little bit different than normal, larger Cava restaurants in the way it asks diners to order. Instead of telling a person how to build your customized Mediterranean bowl or pita, diners scan a QR code with their phone and order through the app.
Diners can eat inside the restaurant, but the kitchen is designed to whip up to-go orders and indoor seating is limited.
Cava purchased Zoe's Kitchen in a nationwide, $300 million deal in 2018. Zoe's Kitchen, which operated at 3644 King St. operated for nine years, closed in June.
Cava started in Rockville, Maryland and there are now more than 80 restaurants nationwide. Cava spreads and items are available in Whole Foods Market and specialty grocery stores.
