Wegmans grocery store will be opening Wednesday, May 11 at 9 a.m., the company has announced. At a preview Friday, new Wegmans team members worked on displays and inventory throughout the 81,000 square-foot store.
The new grocery store, part of the new Carlyle Crossing development in the Eisenhower East neighborhood, is just west of Hoffman Town Center off of Eisenhower Avenue. The grocery store, 150 Stovall St., is part of a mixed-use project on a 5-acre site that includes retail and two large residential buildings.
Much of the Wegmans will be on the second floor of the development with a ground-floor entrance.
The new store offers a coffee bar, sushi, pizza, subs, and prepackaged meals to go. In addition, The Burger Bar, Wegmans’ family-friendly, fast-casual restaurant, will serve burgers, sandwiches, and fries. Wegman's has a Virginia merchandiser that searches for local products to bring into the stores. (Guests or business owners should contact Wegman's to recommend their local favorites for the store!)
Customers can complete all their grocery shopping online for curbside pickup or delivery to their door in as little as one hour or use Wegmans SCAN App to scan and bag their groceries as they shop for a quick and easy, contactless shopping experience. This Wegmans will not have a pharmacy or a sub shop, though a sandwich station will be up and running at opening.
Wegmans was founded more than a century ago in Rochester, New York, and has more than 100 grocery stores in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region. The grocery store in recent years has developed a cult-like following for its unique items and gourmet grocery selection. The company is working on expansion plans down the East Coast.
Wegmans has appeared on Fortune's annual "100 Best Companies to Work For" multiple times.
