Alexandria restaurant 1799 Prime was honored for its wine list by Wine Spectator.
1799 Prime joined 63 other restaurants in Virginia in winning a Wine Spectator 2024 Restaurant Award.
The Grand Award went to the Inn at Little Washington in Washington, Virginia. 1799 won an Award of Excellence, the only restaurant in Alexandria to win any award.
"The restaurant industry is growing and thriving, with restaurant openings surpassing pre-pandemic levels for the first time," said Marvin Shanken, editor and publisher of Wine Spectator, in a release. "To take advantage of the uptick, restaurateurs are investing in their wine programs. Restaurants that make wine a priority are what the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards program is all about."
1799 Prime opened in August 2022. It is owned by Jahmond Quander, who had experience as Director of Food and Beverage at Mount Vernon, and manager of Blackwall Hitch.
1799 Prime is located at 110 S. Pitt St.
