The Lee-Fendall House hosts Sips & Secrets: A Speakeasy Night. The event celebrates the house’s Prohibition-era history, when we were home to Alexandria’s liquor wholesalers, and all proceeds will support our mission to provide a place for the Alexandria community to explore our shared history and discover how it is still relevant today.
Enjoy 1920s-style drinks as we raise a glass to the Downham family, who once made Lee-Fendall their home as prominent Alexandria liquor dealers – until Prohibition came to town.
Dance the night away to some great jazz and ragtime, and brush up on your skills to enter our Charleston contest.
Show up in your best flapper or mobster style and win a prize for the best 1920s costume.
Win great prizes highlighting local Alexandria businesses in our silent auction.
General admission tickets include two drink tickets for cocktails, wine, or beer, heavy hors d’oeuvres and dessert, and all the speakeasy fun you can handle! We also offer ageneral admission price for young professionals (ages 21-30; all guests must be 21 years or older to attend).
Interested in an insider’s look at Lee-Fendall’s Prohibition past? Join the VIP reception at 6:30 PM for an exclusive liquor tasting and a tour of the house that focuses on how Prohibition changed the lives of the Downham family and other Alexandrians.
