Jojo and the Cat in the Hat
Imagination runs wild, hearts grow three sizes, and beloved Dr. Seuss characters leap from the page to the stage as Mount Vernon Community Children’s Theatre (MVCCT) proudly presents Seussical, a high-energy musical celebration of friendship, community, and believing in what others can’t yet see.
Performances will take place at Bryant High School, located at 2709 Popkins Lane, Alexandria, VA 22306, on the following dates and times: Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Sunday, March 8 at 3 p.m.; Saturday, March 14 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m.
Seussical weaves together classic Dr. Seuss tales, including Horton Hears a Who!, The Cat in the Hat, and Gertrude McFuzz, reminding audiences of all ages that “a person’s a person, no matter how small.” With colorful costumes, playful choreography, and toe-tapping music, the production promises fun for the whole family.
This joyful production is directed by Emily Carbone, an MVCCT and West Potomac High School alum, who returns to the organization to guide the next generation of actors on stage. “Seussical was one of the first musicals to really make me fall in love with theatre. To go from watching MVCCT’s production 20 years ago, to now leading a new generation of young actors, has been so special, especially with the amount of talent and dedication everyone has brought to the process. These kids have been nothing short of incredible.”
The cast features 44 talented young performers from more than 20 local schools, highlighting MVCCT’s commitment to providing children and teens in Northern Virginia with the opportunity to learn and grow through theatre.
Tickets are $18 and are on sale now at www.MVCCT.org. Families, friends, and Seuss fans of all ages are invited to join the adventure!
