The History: On Saturday, January 5, 2008 in Hyattsville, Maryland, Great Publishing Company presented DON'T LET IT HAPPEN TO POETRY. Inspired by Kuroji Ntu's poem of the same name, we gathered together in a spirit of creative comradery and 25 poets poured their heARTs onto the stage. Nostalgia struck, via a post of the list of performers from that night on social media, and we were reminded of the multifaceted gift that poetry has been to us as lovers of the art and through us as creatives of the same. You asked us to recreate it, so January 5, 2019 we did in a sold out room at Kora Restaurant with 25 more poets. So in an effort in not letting “it” happen to poetry we continue with a reminder that we wish to share with you as a lover and creator of poetry. You loved it, so we brought it a back again on January 11, 2020 at The Morrison house. We skipped it in 2021 (You know why).
