What inspires a ceramic artist when creating a work? It might be a wren nesting outside a kitchen window, color and brush strokes in a painting by Picasso, a favorite song, or flowers in the garden that sparks the imagination and helps inspire a form and its surface treatment.
Terry Young’s, Beatles’ House, uses lyrics “oh-blah-di oh-brah-da life goes on...” and “All you need is love....” faintly scratched on the walls of her work to convey how being confined to home during COVID-19 felt restricted but the optimistic Beatles’ words on life and love kept her looking forward.
