In Celebration of Fairfax Recycles Day, The County’s Employees for Environmental Excellence & the Solid Waste Management Program are Hosting a Webinar:
HOW TO RECYCLE RIGHT IN FAIRFAX COUNTY
This educational webinar will feature a joint proclamation by several County Board of Supervisors in honor Fairfax Recycles Day, an expert panel on plastics recycling, an update on the Purple Can Club and regional glass recycling efforts, as well as an announcement related to a new food scrap composting drop-off program.
This year, Fairfax County’s Employees for Environmental Excellence (FEEE) and the Solid Waste Management Program’s (SWMP) Outreach and Education Team are partnering to provide this webinar to employees and residents interested in uncovering the mysteries of how recycling really works.

Sandi Childs, The Association of Plastic Recyclers
Sandi Childs is the Director of Film and Flexible Programs for APR, the Association of Plastic Recyclers. She is leading APR’s efforts to expand and promote the plastic bag and flexible film recycling industry through improvements to supply, demand, and quality. Sandi manages APR’s Film Reclamation Committee and its contributions to APR’s Design® Guide for Plastics Recyclability and PE film test protocols.
Prior to APR, Sandi served as a Recovery Development Manager for Coca-Cola Recycling, creating models for brand owner investments in the recycling value chain. Sandi started her career recycling PET plastics, as Recycling Manager for Southeastern Container and then as Eastern Regional Director for NAPCOR. Sandi has a BS in Human Ecology from Ramapo College of New Jersey and a Masters in Environmental Science from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Greg Janson is the CEO of QRS Inc. and Re-Poly LLC and co-founder of Evertrak LLC
QRS and Re-Poly process large volumes of mixed, post-consumer plastic into high quality, resin specific flake and regrind. Evertrak manufactures the world’s strongest composite rail ties made from recycled plastic and glass fiber. Re-Poly is the exclusive supplier of plastic to Evertrak.
Greg literally grew up in the recycling industry working for his father’s company from a young age. Following his graduation from Purdue University Greg spent eight years in the United States Marine Corps before returning to the family business in 1998. Greg has spent the last 22 years leading QRS. He has hands-on experience designing, constructing, and operating large, single-stream MRFs and regional plastic recovery facilities as well as in the vertical integration of post-consumer plastic into finished products.
Greg currently serves as an APR Board member and serves on the Rigids Committee, MRF Sub-committee, and PCR Certification sub-committee. He also represents QRS and Re-Poly with the ACC’s Film and Flexible Recycling Group. Greg lives in St. Louis with his wife, Jennifer, and six children.
