Federal Gown Workshop

Have nothing to wear to meet the President or Mr. Darcy? Why not make it your self! Attend Gadsby's Tavern for their 3-session workshop, led by period clothing expert Jane Pease, giving instructions for creating a Federal/Regency-period gown perfect for the Birthnight or Jane Austen balls. 

Workshops will focus on custom-fitting the basic gown and working with sheer, silky, and gauzy fabrics. Before the workshop begins, an instructor will provide advice on fashionable styles and fabrics for the period and sources for appropriate patterns and materials. Students are responsible for purchasing their own fabric, pattern, and supplies and bringing them to class. 

For the intermediate sewer or hand-stitcher.

Students must have made at least one complete garment using a commercial pattern and have access to a sewing machine at home in order to work at home between classes to complete the gown.

Tickets are $100 per person; $80 for Gadsby's volunteers or GTMS members. 

 Space is very limited.
