The Alexandria Transit Company, commonly known as DASH will be celebrating its 35^th Anniversary on Monday, March 11, 2019, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at DASH Headquarters (located at 3000 Business Center Drive) with an open house and unveiling of the latest additions to their fleet, the advanced design transit bus: Xcelsior® by New Flyer of America. 

These newest additions feature a modern, refreshed design; they are lighter weight, deliver up to 8% fuel economy improvements, feature ultra-low emissions, are quieter, brighter and more accessible to those with disabilities. In addition to the reveal of these buses, DASH will showcase the history of the system and offer a sneak peek of the future of the fleet.

DASH is a staple of the Alexandria community and has received numerous awards throughout the years including national recognition as one of the Top 10 Transit Systems to work for in the United States!

Members of the public and the media are invited to stop by anytime to enjoy complimentary food, drinks, a display of the history of DASH and guided tours of the DASH Operations and Maintenance Facility. The evening program will include special presentations highlighting the past, present, and future of DASH Transit.

DASH will provide a FREE express event shuttle departing from City Hall at 5:45 pm and 6:30 pm, picking up at King Street Metro and then arriving at the DASH Facility. The shuttle will provide return trips throughout the evening through the conclusion of the event. Parking on site is available but limited, so taking the free shuttle is encouraged. 

At 7:00 pm remarks will be offered by the Mayor of Alexandria, Director of the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, the ATC Board Chairman, and General Manager of DASH. Representatives from manufacturers who supply to DASH will also be on site to answer questions and showcase their products.
