Alexandria's Summer Kick-Off Concert Featuring the Alexandria Citizens Band
Celebrate the start of summer with Alexandria’s Summer Kick-off Concert, one-hour of FREE live music with all the fun sounds of the summer. The event, featuring the Alexandria Citizens Band, will be at 4 pm on Saturday, June 15, at Del Ray United Methodist Church.
We’ll let you cheer on your favorite movie with How to Train Your Dragon. We'll get you ready for a summer vacation to Scotland with Loch Lomond. We’ll preview the Fourth of July with You’re A Grand Old Flag. Of course, you can’t enjoy summer without a blast of trumpets and trombones, and some flashy saxophones, so we’ll deliver with a touch of Bach and Rimsky-Korsakoff.
Bring the whole family to enjoy the concert and to introduce a new generation to great classics. No need to worry about bug spray, or rain, we’ll be indoors. After the late afternoon concert, stroll over to the Del Ray restaurants, just two blocks away. Best of all, it's all FREE!
The Alexandria Citizens Band ismade up of talented volunteer musicians under the baton of Alexandria’s own Mike Evans. It is one of the oldest community bands in America, now in its 107th season.
